Just like any construction project, writing a book comes with a punch list—and this one tested every tool in my mental, emotional, and creative toolkit. I’m thrilled (and yes, still a little nervous) to share that my book, Making Construction Fun Again: Structural Support for Those Building Our World, will be officially released on Labor Day—September 1, 2025!
What started as a mission to capture stories and lessons from the field turned into something much bigger: a deep, sometimes messy, always honest exploration of how we can bring purpose, pride, and yes—fun—back into the construction industry.
I thought writing the book would be the hard part. But it was the final 10% (the last rounds of edits, the audio retakes, the design feedback) that really tested me. I kept finding myself in a familiar pattern I’ve seen on many of my past construction projects: assuming that the home stretch would be a “slide” instead of a “ladder.” You know the feeling… you think you’re done, and then someone hands you a 12-page punch list and a pallet of missing ceiling tiles you need to figure out where they were left out of.

Preview from the Book:
"Here’s the kicker: fun, enjoyment, fulfillment … they don’t show up like a catered lunch. You have to build them. You decide whether or not they’re part of your day. That decision starts with how you choose to see things, and how you react to what’s thrown your way. If you’re only looking for what’s broken, stressful, or out-of-whack, that’s all you’ll see, but if you’re willing to look for the good—even when it’s buried under paperwork, rain delays, and busted equipment—you’ll find that, too."
The truth is, I needed to take my own advice. Every round of edits, every piece of feedback, every moment I wanted to scream and be done—it made the final product stronger. And six months from now, I know I’ll be proud I pushed through instead of settling for "good enough."
Thank you for hanging in there with me. Your support means everything. Preorder links for both the paperback and audiobook versions should be ready by mid-August, maybe sooner—stay tuned!
