Donny Metcalf

Donny began working in his current role as an electrical estimator for Lochridge Priest in August of 2021. He is part of the estimating team developing bids for Waco & surrounding areas and in DFW. He began his career in 1992 as an electrical apprentice in California. He has climbed the ranks from apprentice to journeyman, crew lead, and foreman tasked with running large commercial projects. He has transitioned from fieldwork to management and has held the following positions in a management-type role:

• Assistant Project Manager
• Project Manager
• Production Manager
• Prefab Manager
• Estimator

Donny found his love for teaching along the way. He has taught stand-alone electrical-based training programs, foremen training programs, and electrical apprenticeship programs. He grew up in Lake Elsinore, California, and currently lives in Sioux Falls South Dakota. Donny is married to his high school sweetheart Tracee. They have 4 adult sons and are definitely enjoying their new roles as empty nesters!

Donny spends his free time writing electrical content for Electrician U, contributing to various industry chats/webinars as well as training our electrical workforce. When not contributing to the construction industry, Donny loves woodworking, walking/hiking with his wife and dog, and is a Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast.
